How Reflexology Works
Reflexology balances the nervous system by stimulating the nerve endings of the feet, which connect with the spinal nerves and their corresponding organs. It works with the circulatory system breaking up congestion and deposits in the feet, which also stimulates the corresponding organs and helps detoxify the body.
Vertical Reflex Therapy (VRT)
Deborah continues to look for ways to help clients get the maximum benefit from their sessions and incorporated VRT into her reflexology practice.
VRT is applied with the client standing for a few minutes at the beginning of the session. With VRT the therapeutic response often happens very quickly because anatomically all nerves, and therefore the reflexes, are sensitized and activated when weight-bearing. This complements and enhances the traditional reflexology session.
Benefits of Reflexology
Over 170 studies of reflexology have been conducted demonstrating the following benefits:
- Reduces stress and brings about relaxation
- Promotes balance and normalization of the body’s functions
- Improves circulation and delivery of oxygen and nutrients to all the cells in the body
Deborah has the golden touch. From session to session, she identified changes in my feet, from differences in overall tension to tension in particular areas. Her attention to these details and her supportive and calming presence have helped me work through the intense stress that caused discomfort in my stomach and soreness in my neck and shoulders.

The way reflexology works complements the way Reiki and hypnosis work.
